secrets to a successful kaya toast enterprise

first, u need a qualified "auntie" to handle the coordinationDSC03556
then, u need someone very talented at cutting bread sideways. preferably get someone who was once your kindergarten classmate (HAHA) :)DSC03565
give each person fixed tasks and get them to work in a line.

2 min 10 seconds is the key, my friend!DSC03568
TADA!

get someone to taste the food.DSC03559
of course, what is kaya toast without bubble tea right? so, u have to hire the bubble tea aunties. make sure they are joyful in their service! like these :)
DSC03558
but don't allow them to get too "high" on the bubble tea!DSC03574
arrange the food nicely
DSC03547
check for customer's satisfaction, from young...DSC03599
to old!

at the end of it all, give thanks to God for all things, including the wonderful fellow workers and the great privilege to serve Him in this fun yet fruitful way :)

tcf outing

its been too long! so many things have happened, but im glad ive been able to sort things out and choose to do His will. may He give grace as i wait upon Him daily! it is a daily struggle, indeed..

here are some tcf outing photos. i enjoyed the outing, the interaction with the kids, the singing of songs, the taking of photos and the editing of photos even though it was T-E-D-I-O-U-S :p

To the Praise of His Glorious Grace

this is a song that i have been listening to while doing my work. i love the first stanza :)DSC02426_editted

With astonishing mercy and power;
in accord with His pleasure and will

He created each planet, each flower,
every galaxy, microbe and hill;

He suspended this planet in space
to the praise of His glorious grace,

To the praise of His glorious grace,
to the praise of His glorious grace.DSC02439

Providentially ruling all things
to conform to the end He designed,
He mysteriously governs and brings
His eternal wise plans into time.
He works out every step, every trace,
to the praise of His glorious grace,
To the praise of His glorious grace,
to the praise of His glorious grace.

DSC02284editted
Long before the creation began,
He foreknew those He’d ransom in Christ;
Long before time’s cold hourglass ran,
He ordained the supreme Sacrifice.
In the Cross He removed our disgrace,
to the praise of His glorious grace,
To the praise of His glorious grace,
to the praise of His glorious grace.

DSC02448_editted
We were blessed in the heavenly realms
long before being included in Christ.
Since we heard the good news, overwhelmed,
we reach forward to seize Paradise.
We shall see Him ourselves, face to face,
to the praise of His glorious grace,
To the praise of His glorious grace,
to the praise of His glorious grace.SONY DSC

this is probably the best way to present some of the photos taken at sungei buloh. mostly creepy-crawlies here, which im not a big fan of, but just seeing how they live under the providence of God is just so breath-taking. look at the second last photo. it is an ant's nest, created from fusing two leaves together. isn't it just amazing what the Designer of this world can do?

im glad children's day is (almost) over but i reli enjoyed preparing for it with PP :) somehw, we kinda like this "factory-style" making of little things for people...its quite satisfactory and meaningful la! :)

i tot i did a tutorial here but now that i look at it, it does not seem very helpful, so i shall elaborate more. the materials i used can be found here..i also bought "made with love" bronze charms which i purchased from Lai Guan Beads Mart (also at People's Park).

to use the shrink plastic, you first need to learn how to print on an A5 sheet of paper:) thats easily done using PPT. after clicking print, go to properties and change the paper size :) test print on a draft paper first!!remember also to print it 20-30% brighter (use your own discretion) because the colour becomes more solid after shrinking:)

cut cut cut the different rectangles up (i fitted 9 per sheet). punch the holes at the corners and cut curved edges if you like. then, put to bake while keeping a watchful eye on it. the moment it stops moving/shrinking-turn off the oven/toaster! let it cool/harden,hook up the handphone strap with the charm and you are good to go!~

p.s. i need to make a few more for some students who popped up! i make it in batches of 9 and ive got so many empty "slots". would u like one, or give a friend one? let me know if you do! i can customise the message at the back too~ if not, it will read: "Its a joy to have you in my class :) Happy Children's Day!"

i cant wait to go JAPAN!!! :)DSC01630
interestingly, the aircon in the car broke down and it was so hot that water condensed on the INSIDE. thats how we could get this picture la hehehe....

blogging

harlow!

its been awhile. many things have happened in these past few months, both good and bad, but all worth giving thanks for! im thankful for the little breaks that God has placed here and there, for me to catch a breather, take my mind off work and to spend time with and give thanks for the lovely ones from church :)

recently, there have been quite a few things on my mind..after…so many so many things…especially talking to JH, things at hmmm…etc..

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

when I first started this blog, my intention was just to share some of the arty-crafty things that I enjoy and at the same time, update others on how fitw has been doing. then, this blog started getting increasingly personal, which I really do not mind because I know my loved ones read it and it is a good way to update them.

at certain points of my blogging experience, there have been emotional lows when I just feel like typing out my complains, resentment, and dislikes for certain things. but I really thank God I did not do it. and now as I look back, how I thank God even more! I thank God that he kept me from making this error..

does it make a difference if its typed out?

does it make a difference when I say it on my blog, but cryptically?

what about if I type out what I feel, but I am absolutely sure the person will not read it?

or..i write something I know a person will read, but that’s because I dare not say it to the person…

it’s a blog…its my own personal space, isn't it…?

what about sms-ing? facebook? msn?

as I pondered on these questions, I realised that the answer really is very simple. all these forms of communication may seem detached from us, but they are actually the words of our mouth. and unlike the things we actually say….at any point of time, anyone can read our blogs. anyone can forward it. anyone can copy and paste it, but who knows how it can blow up beyond proportion…

so, im making a personal resolution, not to use my blog as a "convenient channel" to say things that I dare not say to a person upfront. may every single word, written typed or said, be glorifying to our Heavenly Father. what about you? :)

camp echo day 2

ok this is loooong overdue! but it has been on my mind and ive been pondering on the lessons learnt.

woke up on day 2 of camp, and realised that we were a tad late for our morning devotion! and someone + another person did something that cannot be mentioned here....haha....

i looked for them after the morning devotion and while waiting, enjoyed the morning breeze and took some pictures..the outcome is really accidental because vapour was condensing on my lens...

DSC07621

DSC07622

day 2 was also the first day of our camp theme msgs - "Make Me a Blessing". we were provoked to think which is the keyword in this phrase. some thought it was "me", others thought it was "blessing",but actually, and truly, the keyword is "make", as this reveals our incapabilities of being a blessing with our own means. only through Christ!

Zechariah 8:13  And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.

there was a point of time when Israel had declined spiritually in their physical prosperity. all they could be were economic blessings. i am like that sometimes. are u?

but there is a comfort, because God reminds that people of Israel that what is past is past (zech 8:9-10) whatever mistakes have been made, whatever things that went wrong, all there are over and God calls us to "Let (our) hands be strong.." we may once have been the "curse among the heathen", but God says "...so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing.."

what a comfort that God chooses to use our lives as blessings in spite of who we are! even in the camp, i already tasted how others are wonderful blessings from God :)

DSC07658 DSC07789

DSC07784DSC07735

we had some free time in the afternoon so PP and i went to explore the place (nothing much to explore, reli). PP looks far away here, doesn't he? haha. the wonders that cropping can do...

DSC07708

den we went to the tennis courts and Ben, Sock Wah,Dn Winston were swinging their powerful serves. (im not too bad myself, just tt i only play tennis on Wii haha!!!) we saw this cute tree outside and while they were playing, they were wondering what on earth we were up to haha!! bad hair day! lol.. :)

DSC07763

DSC07764

and the day closed with a msg taken from Luke 10:30-37 on The Good Samaritan. 2 main thoughts:

- religiosity is not spirituality

- do i pick and choose who i extend my blessings to?

DSC07807

the building where we have our messages-it looks ghostly here...

*sigh* doing this echo makes me long for the church camp days again!

learningthat

*jumping-in-excitement!!!!!!* haha.ull know why at the end of this post :)

for those who know us, this post will probably enlighten u pretty much about PP and i :)

SONY DSC

PP bought this calendar for me on my 22nd birthday. when i first received it, i felt confused because i don't know what he expects me to do with it. however, it has now turned out to be a very lovely, and important part in our walk together..where at the start of each month, we reshuffle the calendar, giving thanks for what is over and committing the coming month to Him in prayer.
